Central Main Power offers a few assistance programs for qualified low income residents. They also partner with local community action agencies. The programs and options available are as follows.
Electricity Lifeline Program
The Electricity Lifeline Program (ELP) provided by Central Maine Power offers qualified low to moderate income families and individuals a credit on their monthly electric and/or utility bill. This monthly credit is based on the applicants total household income as well as their estimated electricity usage. This monthly credit is applied to your bill in one lump sum payment.
Low-Income Energy Management Program
This service will help you save money by providing electric water heater and pipe insulation and water conservation measures to your home or apartment.
Partnerships with Local Community Action Program (CAP) Agencies
This is one of the main ways to get help from Central Maine. They work with various agencies and charities around the state to offer residents programs to help pay utility bills. You need to contact your local CAP Agency to apply for benefits from these agencies to help pay your utility bills. Try calling any of these locations.
