Get help in North Dakota with paying electric, heating and utility bills
You can get help in all cities including Bismarck and Fargo.
State Aid
Eligible households in North Dakota can receive a voucher for up to $300 from their local county social services office. The voucher can be used to buy a fan or window air conditioner. To qualify for this help, the low-income household must have at least one member with a medical condition that makes her or him vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. Also, a note is needed from a medical professional verifying that he or she has a medical condition.
Additional Assistance Programs
Energy Share This is a statewide, private fuel fund corporation that is funded by utility companies, and private donations, from across North Dakota and the LIHEAP. Funds may help pay for reconnection fees, service charges, electric bills, or security lights. This program is administered by local community action agencies.
Capital Electric Coop, Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative, Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative, Nodak Electric Cooperative, Northern Plains Electric Cooperative These companies all have customer donations that are put into a special account that is used to assist local individuals and nonprofit organizations with help for paying crucial needs including shelter, heating bills, food, clothing, health care, education, emergency services, and charitable causes.
