Provides local agencies with help for funding weatherization projects. Weatherization improvements may include ceiling, floor, and wall insulation; band joist; air infiltration measures; and water heating measures, such as pipe wrap, water heater blankets, low-flow shower heads, and faucet aerators.
Funding for lower income customers for weatherization is available year-round. MidAmerican's energy efficiency department, using assistance from the Iowa Department of Human Rights, manages the program and distributes the help with paying utility and heating bills that are specifically earmarked for home improvements to qualified lower income customer homes. This provides a free energy assessment for homes built before December 31, 1994. It also includes the installation of pipe insulation, water heater blankets, energy-efficient light bulbs, low-flow faucet aerators and shower heads, and waterbed mattress pad.
Alliant Energy - Hometown Care Energy Fund
Recipients of this energy aid include families struggling with medical problems or a job loss, older citizens on a fixed income, and it can also help eligible people who are still trying to pay off last winter's high heating bills.

All these companies off this program which is funded by customers and the funds are distributed by local community action agencies to help those in need with paying their winter heating bills and to also assist in the weatherization of homes of low-income consumers.
