Energy bill help from New Jersey Natural Gas

Customers of New Jersey Natural Gas have a few different ways to get help with paying for their utility and gas bills.

Universal Service Fund (USF)/Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
The federal government funded Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) provides cash grants and other forms of financial assistance to help low and moderate income-eligible individuals with paying their utility bills. This government funded program is managed by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs through local Community Action Program (CAP) agencies. Call the agency in your area, or dial 1-866-657-4273 to find where that agency is.

Gift of Warmth Fund
This is a program that was created by New Jersey Natural Gas. This is a fund that was established to help people pay utility and gas bills, and it was created by New Jersey Natural Gas. The primary reason was to help qualified customers who are experiencing short term hardships or financial difficulties, and who cannot afford to pay their own utility bills. The Gift of Warmth fund will helps income-eligible households. In addition, the fund will also help those customers who are experiencing temporary or unanticipated financial hardship or a short term crisis. Each year New Jersey Natural Gas will invite customers, employees, and shareholders to help families in our service territory by donating and contributing to the fund. This assistance program is administered primarily by the United Way through local Community Action Program (CAP) agencies. Lifeline Credit Program
This is a special benefits program that was created for for the elderly, aged and disabled families that is administered by the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services. For information on how to get help from this program, call 1-800-792-9745.
