Hawaii programs to help with utility and electric bills

The County of Kauai offers loans that are low interest, Residential Rehabilitation Loans, that are available for qualified homeowners. Low interest loans are a way to obtain help paying your utility bills.

Hawaiian Electric Company offers help with paying utility and electric bills.
Starting this month (June, 2008) qualified customers on Oahu can sign up to obtain energy efficient equipment, such as light bulbs, and thermostats, through Hawaiian Electric Co.’s residential assistance program. Other items covered under the program include compact fluorescent lights, low flow shower heads, faucet aerators, as well as water heater temperature set backs. Applications will be accepted for a limited time. They are only accepted through the Honolulu Community Action Program, known as HCAP, district centers located throughout the state.
